Helping Dogs in Need: Our Donation of 50 Cooling Mats to K9 Rescue Ukraine
At Help For Paws, our mission has always been simple: sell products that pet owners love, and use a portion of our profits to support animals who desperately need help. Thanks to the support of our amazing customers, we were able to make one of our most meaningful donations this past summer.
An Email That Hit Us Hard
Back in July, we received a heartfelt message from Rebecca, a volunteer fundraiser for K9 Rescue Ukraine. Since the war began in February 2022, their small but dedicated organisation has been working around the clock to help the animals affected by the conflict.
In her message, she told us about the extreme summer heat the animals were enduring — along with the constant drone and missile noise, and the stress and exhaustion faced by the dogs and cats in shelters and veterinary clinics.
Then she asked us:
“Do you have any cool mats you’d be willing to donate, to help the animals who are struggling in the heat?”
We knew we had to help.
Our Donation: 50 Cooling Mats Worth Over £1,000
Because of your continued support at Help For Paws, we were able to donate 50 cooling mats, worth over £1,000, directly to K9 Rescue Ukraine.
These mats were delivered to shelters and vets treating animals suffering in the intense July heat. For many of these dogs and cats, a cooling mat meant relief from dangerous temperatures and a small moment of comfort in a very difficult environment.
How Your Support Made an Impact
Thanks to this donation:

Dogs and cats in overcrowded shelters were able to cool down safely during heatwaves.

Injured and vulnerable animals in veterinary care had a comfortable, temperature-relieving place to rest.

Stressed and traumatised animals found physical relief during some of the hottest days of the year.

K9 Rescue Ukraine could focus more of their limited resources on food, transport, and medicine.
In total, around 50 dogs and cats rested more comfortably in the summer thanks to your support.
